Thyroid Surgery? What You Can Do Naturally To Help With Symptoms.

March 22, 2012 //  by Dr Hagmeyer

“Can you still help me even if my thyroid has been removed?”

About every other day a potential patient writes to me and asks, “Can you still help me even if my thyroid has been removed?” It is a great question.

The answer is YES… let me explain how:

thyroid surgeryUsually a patient has had their thyroid removed secondary to Graves disease … an autoimmune condition. After removing the thyroid gland the patient goes from HYPER-thyroid to low thyroid. Just when you thought that you would be feeling good again. Unfortunately, that doesnt seem to be the case for many individuals. To complicate matters, many patients who may have the signs of hyperthyroidism are acutaly in what I call the swing state of Hashimotos. You can read more on Hashimotos here.

Thyroid replacement is given to provide the necessary hormones the body requires, but many times the patient still feels tired, sluggish, and fatigued … just as if they were still hypothyroid (even though lab tests say otherwise).

In these cases the original immune problem can still interfere with your bodies ability to utilize the thyroid hormone replacement. Because of this you can still have low thyroid symptoms.

We take a comprehensive functional approach and look at ALL the peripheral factors (Adrenal Health, Immune system Function, Hormone Balance, Gastrointestinal Health, Liver Clearance (toxicity),Neurotransmitters, Food Sensitivities that are affecting the thyroid and seek to optimize function so you can feel and function good again.

If you have had your thyroid removed and still don’t feel and function as good as you would like to, then give us a call at (630) 718-0555 or Schedule A Consultation Online.
